Tips for Creating Successful Classified Ads Online

Back to Classifieds

1. Gather the Basic Information About Your Classified Item.
The first step to building a successful classified ad for your classified item is that of getting all of the standard information about your item. This includes the basics like Year, Make and Model, as well as Options and History etc.

2. Take A Quality Photo Of Your  classified item.

Although photos are not required for building a classified ad on Jointheplanet.com, they greatly benefit both the classified item buyer and seller. Listings with photos have a far greater chance of being noticed quickly, thus decreasing your selling time. Multiple photos are nice, but one good photo usually is sufficient.

3. Determine Your Location and Contact Information.
Provide an email address if you have one and a primary and secondary phone number. The easier you are to reach, the more inquiries your ad will receive. If you live in a rural area bordering a big city, consider making your primary selling location the larger city. There are more classified item buyers searching in big cities; therefore, your classified item is more likely to be found.

4. Pricing Your  classified item To Sell?
Determine what you are willing to accept for the classified item. If your classified item is worth $10,000 and you are willing to accept $9000, shoot to price your item lower. It does eliminate some of the negotiating, but your classified item will be more attractive to classified buyers, thus encouraging them to contact you. If you are competing with a few similar items, a buyer may contact you first because of the lower price. In the end you may end up selling your classified item at the price your competition would have settled for. Remember: classified item buyers are most likely using the same pricing websites that you use in setting the price of your item. If you are near, or lower than the price they have, your classified item is that much more appealing. This decreases the time it takes to sell your classified item.

5. Including 'Seller's Comments' Can Help Sell Your Classified Item.
We can't stress enough how important seller's comments are to creating a successful classified ad for your item. If you provide a concise list of all of the available features of your classified item, your item is that much more appealing. These features include things that may not be a part of a standard option lists.

Remember: Put yourself in the position of the classified item buyer. What are some of the things you would look for when buying a particular  classified item. Use the seller's comments to describe these things in your classified ad.
